Kelly Rusk and I have been talking about doing a Social Media Book Club for quite some time since we are both always reading the same books. So to start the new year off right, we have decided to start a Social Media Book Club in Ottawa.
The first Social Media Book Club Meetup will take place on February 5th at the Lieutenants Pump on Elgin. There are currently 20 spots.
The idea behind this book-club is a bit different that a traditional book-club. First of all, you don’t have to have read the book to come. Here is who we think should come.
- People who have read the book (obviously)
- People who have not read the book but have read reviews about it
- People who have not read the book but are interested in learning about it.
The other part of this is that there is a high likelyhood that not all the books that we read will be strictly about social media. For example, the first book that we’d like to discuss is Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. Odds are that you or someone you know got this book for Christmas so why don’t you come join us on Feb 5th to discuss it.
Get reading!

Just to be sure I understand….
Your inviting me to a monthly “social gathering” based on books that I don’t have to “READ”, but can just read about and then sit around and talk “intelligently” about them?
Wow – sounds exactly like most “social media” today!
Woo-hoo! Count me in!
